Recording from Video CD to PC

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I can play a Video CD on my PC's CD drive. Now, I want to know if I can somehow record only the audio from this on to my PC - maybe as a .WAV file or using Real Producer to create a .rm file.

Is there any way of doing this?

The first thing you have to do is seperate the audio layer of the MPEG from the video. You can accomplish this with either a demultiplexor program (which splits the video into two seperate streams video & audio), or use XingMPEG encoder to create just the audio part in .mpa or .mp3 format; if you create an MP3 then you could just play that, but if you want a .wav file (such as for creating an audio CD), then there is one more step. Use a program like "MP3 to WAV," to accomplish this.
