HP5 vs HP5+

OK. What is the difference between the old HP5 and the newer HP5 Plus? Is the film any different? Finer grain?

I could not tell much difference--I still use the same times with HP5+ that I used for HP5. Ilford reconfigured all their old films a few years back when the Delta products came out, but there just wasn't much difference in the HP5+. They may have changed the formulation of the emulsion in a way that did not affect the end result much.

HP5+ is a little sharper, has slightly finer grain, and has a slightly straighter curve shape. It's an incremental improvement rather than a drastic improvement. Since these films tend to fog and get lots grainier with years of storage, the only way I'd mess with the old HP5 these days is if it had been frozen.
