Greensboro, NC - Just came from a Super Walmart where there are many empty selves. Hurricane lamps and oil are all gone. So are all types of camping lanterns. Many candle sections and flashlight sections are empty, etc. There was still some milk on the selves but not very much.

Overheard a store clerk telling a customer that they had received an extra shipment of water this morning, a tractor trailer load, and it was all sold by 2 pm.

All this in a small city that is about 250 miles from the coast.

Just think: All those people may have stocked up for y2k without meaning to. Hopefully they will hold onto that stuff if Floyd bypasses you.

Raleigh TV station just reported Cary Home Depot is out of batteries. (Cary is a small town/suburb just to the west of Raleigh.) I'm hearing from everyone I know that shelves all over the Triangle are emptying fast.

I'm very glad that many people will have Y2K preps. They showed people here buying generators to run their sump pumps. I hope they get enough gasoline for January.
