Todays quiz: Has DOL fired those responsible....

... for the waste of $130,000 of OUR money for that bogus reissue of the registration notices?

Didn't think so.

That waste of our money was one we found out about. Just imagine how much is going on that we DON'T know about.

Westin, the $130,000 figure doesn't begin to cover the actual cost of the blunder. Remember that is supposed to cover the printing, mailing cost, pre- printed form blank cost, handling and other miscellaneous expenses.

That translates into about 45 cents per piece. Anybody involved in direct mail can tell you that is a real bargain.

But there are other hidden costs and hidden profits.

They announced that if you sent in your check you are ENTITLED to a refund. They did NOT say you would get an AUTOMATIC refund.

So the people who sent in their checks and didn't realize it was double dipping most likely will not get any money back. So that should cover the cost of the SECOND set of tabs that will be sent out by Olympia.........Now that is the hidden profit.

The hidden expense that will never be brought to light is the possible THOUSANDS of refund checks that will have to be issued and all the miscellaneous expenses associated with that portion:

Postage, handling, countless man hours, printing costs, banking fees.

Nope when they get down to the real nitty-gritty on this fiasco the cost will probably be triple what they claimed.

And the responsible parties? Well they can't be identified. It was an anonymous mistake.. Jack

MJ,

You're right, of course. I only used the $130K number because it was the only KNOWN number. Musin't be inaccurate or use questionable numbers now, right? After all, if there's any doubt as to the accuracy, why, the opposition would focus completely on the numbers, instead of the underlying issue.

Tsk, tsk.
