THAILAND

According to a Thai government press release dated 14th August, Deputy Prime Minister Trairong Suwankhiri told the Thai Cabinet that 65% of 231 government agencies (which use computers in their main tasks) have reported that they had fixed the bug. These include most of the government agencies which were a top priority. However the Deputy Prime Minister said that the remaining 35% had made little progress. He said that he had instructed those agencies to report back in 15 days on their plans. The agencies concerned were not specified. The press release added that the overall situation in the country was still considered "worrying". www.currents.net/newstoday

Finance - the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) carried out an industry wide test on 5th June which consisted of running comprehensive tests on all connected systems and networks, including all listed companies, sub-brokers etc. The test results "showed a 100% success rate". http://www.y2k.nectec.or.th refers and gives a summary of the test programme.
