Is this Discussion Board Useful?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Metoxit 2000 Planning : One Thread

I hope you guys find this discussion board useful. If you don't like the style tell me, and I can try to implement a different type of bulletin board. This board was provided freely by Philip Greenspun the maintainer of http://photo.net

In answer to Pete's questions (and perhaps others have them as well):

1) Yes, @waquoit.com email addresses can forward mail to wherever you happen to keep your main address - or your ISP supplied address. I have a few left before I reach a limit with the current service. I am researching alternative services that will provide more/unlimited addresses, and should find an alternative before we run out.

2) A mailing list might very well work better for everyone. If you think that it would be better for you, just tell me so. I'll certainly look into it.

Hi Noah,

Good on you for starting this all off. Have a couple of questions...

1) Are the email addresses on waquoit.com redireactable, i.e. can i get it set up so anything sent there is automatically forwarded to my compuserve mailbox. I don't go on the web often, spend most of my time lurking in compuserve, so I wouldn't check a mailbox here very often.

2) Instead of a bulletin board, have you considered a discussion list? At www.topica.com you can get a discussion list hosted for free. This would allow the whole thing to take place by email, and I'd be sure never to miss anything.

Noah,

Well, I for one would prefer a list because I don;t come on the web very often. However, given the repsonse to this so far, I don't know if it's worth the effort.
