Thanks, You Made a Difference

Last night I had the opportunity to speak to a large group of welleducated women about Y2K. I was a little concerned that there would be scoffing about the Y2K fairytale. But I was immediately able to turn the potential scoffing into looks of interests and perhaps concern with the help of this list.

I went to MAIN's site and printed out there Y2K form letter that they send to all interested parties about their "Y2K readiness." The letter, dated in Dec of 98, states that they are ready and the few items that are not completed will be ready by 3/1/99. Then I read them the copy of the MAIN Securities Committee report (dated July 1999) that Bonnie had so deftly discovered. At the end of that report, I stated that if this were an example of the truth we were getting, perhaps preparation wasn't such a bad idea.

I had lots of folks come up to me after and tell me that they were indeed going to stock up on some necc. supplies.

Thanks! You folks might have actually saved some lives.

Terri,

Good for you. Sounds like you hit on an approach that worked. As my wife is always reminding me, it's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Terri, you're the one who deserves the kudos. You gathered info, put two and two together, agreed to speak to a group, planned the presentation and were willing to put yourself in a position of possible ridicule because you believe preparations are prudent. And after all this, then you come back to say thanks to us? You're not only gutsy, you're polite to a fault!

Listen up, now. You and all the others like you are the stars in the Y2K awareness effort. Our thanks go to YOU.
