For those of us who don't have cable or a dish, Cspan has Real Audio/Video available through this site:

Ignore the Senate stuff mentioned above.. guess that is just a different program.

Unfortunately, it's not on now. The Senate is still LIVE and they are required to carry THAT. We may have to look for it tonight.

On now, central time (12:30 pm) -- 'Don't take your money out of the bank!!!!' - Sen. Dodd.

-- Anita Evangelista (ale@townsqr.com), September 08, 1999.

Interesting comment from Bennett: We HAD problems on (April date); you just didn't hear about them.

I waited with anticipation for this broadcast-the kids could wait, dishes-laundry, all could wait. The dissapointment and betrayal I feel right now makes it hard to type. I have been following the Y2K issue since last September. To hear Senators Dodd and Bennett mouthing the party "sermon" of don't panic, don't hoard, keep your money in the bank, made me want to scream.

No-it made me want to take action. Surely in this day and age there is a peaceful but profound way to show the world that there are more than a few silly survivalist out there who are concerned about Y2K. When gas prices here in California started climbing, we protested by not buying gas on a specific day. I don't know what impact that had, but it made me feel as if I could exercise my power as an individual. Perhaps this forum is a starting place for an idea that could travel around the globe on the internet. Pick a date, pick a method. Show the world leaders that we have concerns. We will take care of ourselves as the Senators suggested, but we may not do it in a way that they "approve". My responsibility is to my family and community. Not to the banking industry or to a government that is telling me I will be on my own when "the bump in the road hits".

Prepare more. That's the only real power you have as an individual. You've seen through the disgusting spin and you act against it. That simple.
