list of watt requirements for common items?

Does anyone have a list or a link to a list of the amount of watts individual items require? I've seen partial ones before but failed to save them. Now that I'm planning a small solar back-up to our gasoline generator and the neighbor's steam-powered one it'd be useful to have a list. Thanks!

Or, look at the labels on the actual item you will be using. Some of the published guidelines to power usage are either very general, or mostly for older less efficient appliances, so it's a good idea to double check the actual appliance.

Also, remember that watts = volts times amps..

For example.. If an appliance is rated at 2 amps on 120 volts, it draws 240 watts. For appliances with electric motors (fridge, furnace) you need to add wattage for start-up. I've heard 50% should be added for start-up.

You always get Amps or Watt requirments from SOMEWHERE on the device or packaging.. I think it's required.

Startup draw on motors can be as much as 2x, 3x(typical), 4x, or even 6x(if started under load) running power.
