Best camera for forwarding pictures to newspapers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Our company is making our first digital camera purchase. It will be used primarily for publicity purposes, indoor and out. We need to be absolutely sure that we purchase a camera which will give us a very clear picture for forwarding to newspapers, etc. We would hope that it would also give us pictures suitable for framing special occasions such as awards. Thanks for your input.

There are many good products out there to serve your need well. The Oly 2000, Nikon CP950, Canon Powershot Pro70, Sony cybershot D700, and also 3.5" floopy based Sony Mavica FD-91. Depends on how large of print you need. If you need to have some large prints, then 2+ MegaPixel cameras, are what you need. If you need to have standard prints less the 2MP cameras would do just fine. Forwading pictures to newspaper, any of the above cameras would do fine. I have used the Sony FD-91 for photos printed in the newspaper, and it was great.

You may want to check with your local papers to see what digital formats they want or can accept. If they can recommend files/formats and media types they use,it may be easier to get pix in to them and to get them used as well as to make sure your camera choice supports the appropriate output modes.
