Wednesday this last week I had a long, rambling hunt for and then discussion with the gentleman in charge of emergancy planning for our mid-sized northwest city---doublespeak was rampid---"don't worry, everything is fine here in our city--water, electricity, sewers---I will start saving water in october---yes, we have a disaster plan--it is being revised. It was due out in May, however all the agencies have been arguing about what goes in it so it may be done and made public in December, if at all---the one now operative was done in 89." "Well, you know we don't want to say too much to the general public--might cause worry." It was an amazing experience----do hope this is not the same city with the hospital Matt was describing or we are totally toast--well, I guess it is toast". Jams to go with.
