What is the full extent of power the pope has in today's world????

Dear Kevin, The actual power given to the pope(when he becomes pope) is the leadership of the Catholic church worldwide. Any other power he has is because it is given to him by individuals who admire him or his station in life. The full extent of the power the pope has will never be known unless you take a poll of the entire world and ask them where they rank the pope in involvement in their lives. Ellen

Good answer, the pope's power is of the World, not God.

Dear Kevin: What kind of power do you think would be held by the person who is the successor to the person to whom Jesus our Lord personally handed the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven? The Holy Father has those keys now and is led by the Spirit as the leader of our Church. God knows what each of us needs, right?

Our Pope is involed dirctly with the Spiritual well being of his world flock being all mankind including non-Christians. His " power ' is in the offering of understanding love forgiveness and humility of which we all fight against in ourselves.

The last fifty years has seen the deepeing secularization and materialism of the world at large take root. WE as a world people have stepped away from the infinate love offering of The Father and have attempted in futility to replace it which leads to a very loney interior life indeed. + Peace+

-- Collette hunter (Collette@writeme.com), January 12, 2003.

Could you pleaseeeeee help me anyone! I need a website which has a full timeline of Pope John Paul 2nd, Please

-- Collette Hunter (Collette@writeme.com), March 10, 2003.

The pope supports the U.N. The U.N. supports abortion. Does the pope support abortion?.

-- Columbo (PI@detectiveschool.com), March 10, 2003.

The Pope does not "support the U.N.". The Pope supports those resolutions of the U.N. which are moral and godly, and rejects those which are immoral.

Columbo,

You support the internet. The internet supports porn. Do you support porn?

Collette,

This is not a Catholic link, but it may be helpful to you. It does contain a timeline, as well as an article on Pope John Paul II. Good luck. http://www.christianitytoday.com/ch/2000/001/8.34.html

Hi, Collette

If you go to he new questions page, and scroll all the way down. You will see that there are 131 threads on the Holy Father.

I am sure you will be able to find what ever information you want there. If you need help finding a certain thread ask, because someone might be able to rember one for you.

God bless you

Collette, you said that you needed a "full timeline" for the pope.
From these words, I don't know if you mean you'd like to know his plans for the future -- e.g. coming pastoral visits -- or if you'd like a detailed outline of the things he has done before and during his pontificate.

If you want a rundown of past events, you probably cannot do better than to go this page and click on the links.

God bless you. John
