Fuji mx 1700 vs. mx 2900

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I would like to buy my first digital camera. After reading numerous reviews, I decided to narrow it down to Fuji. Now I am trying to figure out whether I should buy mx 2900 or wait for another two months for mx 1700.

Pixels seem not too important to me as I don't like the pictures printed. But mx 1700 don't feel like a camera to me, I mean it is really handy but is it too small to play around as normal camera does?

Thanks for your help!!

The 2900 has a little more megapixels, but the 1700 has the optical zoom. I wouldn't wait for the 1700. I'd wait for the 2900Z!! This Z version has optical zoom, 2 megapixels, AND hot shoe for external flash. Unlike the 1700, you can mess with aperture priority, shutter priority... it has a lens thread.. has uncompressed storage mode. The only reason I'd take 1700 over this is if smallest form factor possible was a must.
