Why has this forum gotten away from Y2K??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Is it just me or have certain elements turned this forum into a discussion forum on WACO, right-wing attacks on the President, CHINA, and other OT subjects? I believe these OT subjects have gotten way out of hand in a manner that is not conducive to the overall discussion of Y2K. Let's stick to the subject here at hand.

Answers

I posted the same thing a couple dozen threads down:

HELP - This forum is failing ! (save me, saveme@nomorecrap.com, 1999-09-01)

Doesnt matter though, its not Y2k anymore, its the secondary agendas everyone has that matter most.

O.K. you tell me when does it become on topic after the rollover and China seizes the opp. of total confusion to retake Taiwan. Is that when YOU would think its ON TOPIC and approve?

Or maybe when North Korea in Total isolation and desparation decides what the hell their going to loose all their dated technology because of the date change and launches there battery of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons via ICBM toward South Korea Japan Hawaii Alaska and maybe California or Oregon resulting in all out total thermonuclear war and possibly WWIII.

Is That when YOU would consider it ON TOPIC? Waco-what our govt. did there is not on topic to you?

Maybe after you are classified a doomsday extremist maybe then it will be ON TOPIC?

Russia,Iran Iraq, Isreal, India Pakistan, United States of Africa, EU,Bin Laden...

Its not Just a computer problem!

I am with you two folks!

I am a skeptic and it works both ways! The way things are going it will make any newbies uncomfortable to be here. I feel we need to focus on Y2k and if that isn't enough to keep the forum so busy then by golly we won't get so many damned "Server too busy" messages. :)

Might I suggest that many of the OT subjects are quite

On Topic at

http://www.freerepublic.com/

You will also receive a loving reception there.

Many of us feel the government, including Bill Clinton, is not forthright in telling the public the truth about y2k. Other episodes of untruthfullness such as Waco, Monica, China, etc... show a pattern of lying from the highest levels of the government. This is not directly related, but does have a place on any forum dealing with y2k. The truth is out there.

Perhaps it's time to reconsider a separate "OT" Forum?

-- Old Git (anon@spamproblems.com), September 02, 1999.

Johnny,

I do find those subjects very interesting but perhaps there is a different/more appropriate forum for "Patriotic discussions", etc. I hope the forum moderators will figure out some way to handle this. If there are a large number of folks who are tired about the way the forum has "expanded" it's scope they may be tired also of being flamed/attacked by the "loudmouths" who don't need to be named. It would be sad to see this forum effectively screen out anyone not convinced that TEOTWAWKI is coming Y2k.

Oh I can't get over this! This forum has always had what some would consider O.T. and occasionally someone starts crying O.T. O.T.

Explain to me how world military manuvers in advance of whats sure to be a very chaotic world come January and the fact that some govt. may take a use it or loose it mentality prior to that is OT?

Its not just about IBM OS/390 IV&V or the FAA but its also about the way the world is going to react to the sweeping changes and the possible ramifactions from it.

Interconnectedness.

Inspires me. I'm gonna post an OT message now!

Related categories: "Those lying bastards;" "All potential disasters reinforcing need for preparation;" "Vulnerabilities exposed by weakened systems compromised by y2k."

I would consider the most OT to be the junk debate, which follows the lines of the following pattern:

"Is" "Is not" "Is" "Is not" "Bastard" "Bitch" "Is" "Is not" "Troll" "Tinfoil" "Is" "Is not"

As a loudmouth, I'm offended at the portrayal of loudmouths in a negative light. It creates a hostile environment for me, and both I and my lawyer believe it constitutes "hate speech."

RE O.T.; if you don't understand how all the unpleasant and complicated things you mentioned relate to Y2k, there's no hope for you. If you want to trade recipies, fine. But don't tell me that I'm "scaring off" newbies because I'm assuming a global perspective. If you're a liberal and you don't want to allow a conservative voice to be heard RE Y2k, say that. Say that we should run this forum Chinese-style and censor those with non-leftist perspectives.

Y2K won't happen a vacuum folk, that's why.

And stop flooding the forum with "Why are there so many OT threads" threads.
