Someone said that in the widescreen home release there is a shot that was removed from the normal release. I remember seeing the shot in the movie theater. The shot sweeps over Titanic at a distance, set against the coast of Ireland. The shot is supposedly taken from the last photo ever taken of Titanic. If you know this is true or false, could you let me know? Thank you!

That scene is in the widescreen version. I would think it would still be in the normal version, though, because it is accompanied by Rose's voice over about steaming away from the coast of Ireland.

The scene may be in the "normal" release, but you probably didn't notice it because of the pan-and-scan process made displaying such a widescreen shot on the "normal" release impossible. I put normal in inverted commas because these videos are anything but normal. They are a travesty; editing a film in this way(and it _is_ an edit) makes a mockery of any composition the director had in mind. In my opinion, anyone who buys a video of any film that is not in the orginal format is being ripped off. These awful sub-standard release should be banned.

The scene probably is there, but by having the "normal" release you are really missing out on an awful lot.

Just for general reference, let it be known I own the widescreen version and chose the word "normal" to mean the "typical" or "most common" version.

Sorry If I sounded like I was condemning people for owning the most common version, or implying that you owned a copy. 4:3 versions of widescreen originals are one of pet hates; sadly a lot of people don't know(or don't care) that they are missing out

Thank you for your responses! To tell the truth, I bought the "normal" version when it first came out, and then recently I got the widescreen version, but I still haven't had a chance to watch it!
