Chemical Plant Explosion/Nuclear Waste

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just heard on the radio that there's been a chemical plant explosion somewhere in Florida. Also heard that nuclear waste is leaking from a nuclear power plant in Kentucky. Worker's discovered it yesterday. I've got to leave and can't research it, anyone hear about it?

Supposedly, the waste is from an old landfill used by the plant. I think someone posted this yesterday. Look around.

Nothing on Florida yet, but here's a link to the Kentucky story at CNN. The leak is at a uranium enrichment plant. <:)=

Thanks guys! Was on hold to an office in Seattle and was listening to the news played over the phone. They mentioned a fuel spill due to a pump malfunctioning somewhere in Seattle, and telephones not working due to a computer glitch! I'll try to track it down!

Don't have the paper in front of me but, yes, there was a fire yesterday at a chemical plant in Fort Pierce, FL causing evacuations. No info on cause yet. Also last night, there was a chemical fire at Monterey Boats in Archer, FL, causing evacuation of the whole town (granted not that large!). No cause on that one either. Coincidence for sure but I wouldn't assume computer-related. Will advise if I hear of any causes.
