What are some good grooming products?

I've been doing my own pet poodle grooming for years. I have had my second standard for over a year now. I use a detangler, but don't notice much difference. It seems that you have to have every darn tangler out or you have to deal with it after the bath. Also, I use a rinse and conditioner, but I'm not sure what the best dilution ratio is. Most conditioner instructions tell you to rinse out, is this always necessary? Someone has recommended Coat Handler products is it worth a try?

I've always kept my dog's hair kind of long and it is so much work. Maybe I need to give up and go short. What do you think?

I do not have a professional answer to your question..but I wouldnt cut his hair off!!...poodles have the most beautiful coats!! I do use something alittle different, have you tried using a very delicate human conditioner...leaving it on for a few minutes? I do this so Tango doesnt put up a big fuss while brushing his hair...good luck...Cora and Tango

I am a hairdresser and I use a product that makes the human hair so easdy to brush through, especially if they have a problem with tangles. It is Sebastians Laminates. The shampoo is great and the rinse out condtioner is too.ut I think that the Laminates Gel applied before blowing dry will make a big differance. Just a small amount rubbed in your hands and patted evenly around the dog and then brush and blow. It works wonders on human hair and it keeps it cleaner longer and is not oily. It makes is soft and silky and smooth. Lt me know if you have any other ideas. Next time I send my two standards to be groomed I'll include these products for a try out and i'll let you all know. Thanks, Nancy

I don't know of a good cream rinse, but it is really important to brush out all tangles before the bath. If you don't, they will double in size when you bath the dog. Spend the time before the bath, and save yourself time after.
