Y2K Expo. at Rosemont Convention Center Sept. 9 (evening only), 10-11 (10-9), and 12th (9-6). $10 admission. Many of the same people who were presenters with me at the one in Waukesha, WI, including the promoter of that show. I don't know who is managing this one. Management at the Waukesha one cancelled my last presentation after a certain kind of Christian complained to the certain kind of Christain management/promoter that I was teaching people to meditate, which was anti-Christian to them. I had briefly taught a relaxation exercise which consisted of focusing on the present moment and the flow of one's own breath to let go of worries about the future. I mention this so visitors can be prepared for a certain amount of religiously-based ranting if the management is the same. (I was allowed to give a presentation in a very out-of-the way spot in the end. Strange way to treat a free volunteer.) This aside, I do think you can get better prices from home if you know what you want and where to find it. Just ask here.

Shivani... sorry about that bad experience. I appreciate that you phrased it "certain kind of Christian" instead of a blanket condemnation. Relaxation breathing is just common sense, and a good exercise. I practiced for childbirth seven times, and now I kick it into gear when I realize I'm getting stressed and need to calm down. Hope it goes better next time.

Meant to clarify that I am a Christian who practices relaxed breathing exercises. I understand they may feel threatened, so tell them to memorize and meditate on their favorite Scriptures while they breathe. I just listen to good music and do it. I understand that people of different kinds of faith also do it, but it not inherently a religious thing, just a sensible thing to do for our bodies. I like candles and good smells to help me relax too. God created many good things, no need to label them and throw the baby out with the bathwater.

BTW, this is at the Rosemont Convention Center, if you are driving, expect to pay another ten dollars to park. ;-)
