I have a walking wheel I suspect to be made by Shakers. It is very similar to ones I have seen in books. What I am trying to do is verify its maker and get an idea of its possible value.

On the front of the base is stamped "D.BATES,1847". The wheel was purchased in a small town east of Columbus, Ohio.

I have been unable to locate any listing of Shaker village members to verify this name.

Can you help me with any information that would facilitate my search? If you need any additional information please let me know.
