Macro Range

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have a Fuji DX-10. Lens is fixed at 40mm. The macro distance is stated as 10cm. Does it mean i can only take macro shots at 10cm? Or is there a working range i can work within? For normal shooting the range is 0.7m to infinity.

Regards, Luke

Sorry for the slooow response: It's a fixed-focus lens, so in macro mode, you'll have a very narrow focus range around 4 inches. - In normal shooting, the lens is set at its "hyperfocal" focal distance, producing reasonably focused images from 0.7m to infinity without having to change its focus at all.
