Corel Photopaint8 software

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi, Just wondering if anybody has read the latest news on this site about Corel Photopaint8 for only $68 bucks. I was wondering if its worth buying at that price. I have Ulead Photo Express and Microsoft Pictureit 99. Does anyone know if Corel Photopaint8 can do more and also is it much better than the softwares I already have. I heard it was selling for hundreds of dollars a while back. Can anyone tell me more on the Photopaint8 and if its worth buying.

Joey:

I am a long time user of Corel PhotoPaint. I have been using it since it was called somethings else and bundled with black and white HP scanners. The product has undergone many improvements over the years, and version 8 is right in line with that evolutionary path. PP8 handles almost every function that Adobe PhotoShop handles. It does scripting, color separation, 48-bit files, most of the artist effects, and *I* think it handles masking much more elegantly than anything else I have seen out there.

PhotoPaint 8 is a professional strength photo editor, and it will certainly do more than MS PictureIt 99. In my estimation it is definitely worth the $68.

Good luck...
