New password forum on Greenspun: "Government & Military Y2K Planning & Implementation"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just noticed there is a new password protected forum on Lusenet titled, "Government & Military Y2K Planning & Implementation"
anyone know who's responsible for it and how to get a password?

Here is the site url

Gary Allan Halonen has elected to password-protect this bulletin board. You
must enter the user password before you can view or add postings.

njarc@ica.net

and Gary and Bill Dale are running a Y2K site

 new millennium salons

They are Canadians that have been at the Y2K thingy for awhile.

I have no idea what the site is about.

Could be trolls' idea of a fun tease. Ignore.

Neither Gary nor Bill are trolls. The Millennium Salons is an offshoot of the work being done in the population corridor between Ashland and Eugene, Oregon. Bill originally set up the Salons at the behest of Cynthia Beal who is now deeply involved in the Eugene y2k public effort. fwiw I met Jim Lord and Paloma O'Riley at a Eugene public y2k meeting in May '98, spent most of a day with them and the Eugene/Ashland/Medford crowd. Last I heard Bill was no longer doing web or net in order to get his own y2k prep in order.

A&L,

Could be trolls...but, maybe not. Hope somebody who's not worried about their anonymity will e-mail the site's sysop and see what's up. If it's legit, I know I would be interested. It's a subject with broad interest when the noise level is turned down...password-protection would be a plus.

A&L and RUOK

I have Emailed Gary to comment on the Forum, Bill's doesn't work so he is out of the Y2K picture now.

Gary is NOT a troll type, he takes Y2K seriously and is closer to Gary North than John Koshinen :o) (US standards)

I have heard very little from Gary this year so don't know what his present agenda is, hopefully he will contact this forum and give us an update.

Thanks. After the Navy PP papers fuss, and the trolls having fits about "censorship" and "passwords" etc, the timing looked like it could be a neener-neener set-up. We're not even curious because we're too busy! Anyway just went to pick up our "fixed" iMac, turned it on in store (never leave on blind faith without demonstrating your concern in front of the techies!) and bam the power shorted out again, dead. So we still don't have eMail access. Hope the Y2K remediators are having better success than our Mac's techies :(
