greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The TASC Clock ( www.tasc.dot.gov/y2k/) tracking Federal Days left 'till the Roll has been pulled...No explanation.

You want to explain to the group just what you mean by 8 days til martial law ?

-- (what's@up. with that??), August 23, 1999.

Military says official Y2K transition period begins September 1.

Doomers think that martial law will be enforced on 9/1/99.

Should we use this as another date to count against the doomers when it DOESNT HAPPEN ?

Check again fool.

Martial law will not be enforced on 9/1/99; that is just the date the military has set for the "start" of Y2K transition. Another reading comprehension challenged poster.

The military planned to start setting up martial law props on November 1. We'll see if they decide to wait -- if they really believe their own spin that everything is peachy.

Watch what they do, not what they say, although what they said last week was revealing and vaguely entertaining.

I can't vouch for this information, but here is a snip from another thread about a Y2K transition date period:

The following priorities will be adhered to in responding to domestic emergencies and to any Department of State requests for foreign DoD assistance throughout the Y2K transition period. For the purpose of this memorandum, the Y2K transition date period is defined to be from 1 September 1999 through 31 March 2000 ...

Gary North's y2k links and forums

Gary's comment was "don't get caught in a city when the following is implemented."

This is worth reading. Please hot link.

the quote on the transition period beginning sept 1 is actually on a military site. can't remember which one but i actually saw it. maybe they will do the martial law thing once the comet hits. :-) gee, tlc is just crawling with gloom and doom tonight--all about comets, extinctions, etc. how come they get to promote the comet but not y2k?

K Stevens is probably just another handle thought up by Y2K PRO in order to give another date that will "fail".

-- Y2K Amatuer (keep@up.with), August 23, 1999.

My earlier post has Gary North's article on the transition period and a hot link to the military site.
