Need help identifying my cant

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

I have a cat that in alot of ways matches the description of a Maine Coon. Is there somewhere or someone who can help me identify her for sure. Her color is the I believe the largest descrepency. She is solid white with some gray bleeding throught on top of her head.

Thanks for any help,

Chris

Because the Maine Coon is a naturally developed cat, it is true that many cats of mixed or unkown parentage possess some or even many of the hallmark characteristics of Maine Coon breed.

Since the Maine Coon has gained acceptance in all of the major pedigreed cat registering bodies over the last 40 to 50 years, the pedigrees and familial lines of all Maine Coons are tracked very carefully.

The only real way to know if a cat is a Maine Coon or not is to check its pedigree.

Sorry if I've not been as helpful as you would have liked.

Hi there Paul is absolutely right, the only way you can be sure she is a Maine Coon is if she has pedigree papers. Just enjoy the Maine Coon features and love her for what she is. Whether she is a Maine Coon, a wannabe Maine Coon or an alley cat, she is just the same special and striking looking cat. Cheers Ann Mary
