What smells bad is the bill passed unanimously by the last legislature. Compliance with Washington licensing laws is so low that they passed a new law to force compliance. If you get caught driving with out of state plates the penalty is A YEAR IN JAIL and up to $10,000 fine. They won't put car thieves in jail, but you'd better not save a few bucks on your license plates.

You know what they are doing with the money over and above the cost of your MVET and license? They've funded a special enforcement unit to run around and catch people. Next they'll be offering rewards to turn in your neighbors.

Is is just me or are things a little out of proportion here?
