Digital Cameras and Windows Bitmap

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have been asked if there is any camera that can store pictures in Windows Bitmap format. He is using a computer program for design and wants to superimpose a windows bitmap photo into the design. Any one any ideas?

Most cameras now seem to use JPEG is this the format that is becoming the accepted standard.

This may be viewed as a useless answer, but... I have heard of only 1 camera that saves in bitmap, but I do not know what that camera is. As you say, many cameras save as jpeg, but others save with no compression. What the user can do at this point is download the picture to the PC and use an editing program like Photoshop or Paoint Shop Pro and save the file as a Windows Bitmap.

The Sony Mavica cameras have a bitmap mode.
