Mt. Meru, as Seen From Kilimanjaro

Mt. Meru at sunset. Taken from 4,200m (14,000ft) on my way down Kili.
Equipment: EOS 1N w/ 70-200L, Arca-Swiss B-1, Gitzo 1228m.
Exposure: f/8 at 200mm. Time unknown.

Oh. The horizon is not level. That's primarily a mounting issue. The camera was level, but the slide (Velvia) was improperly mounted. I haven't had time to correct it yet.

James, very nice exposure, color is beautiful. I especially like the contrast between the dark mountain side and the twilight sky. By the way, you can easily tilt the photo a few degrees in photoshop (or most other image editing programs)then recrop slightly. It must have been awesome to be there. Let's see more! Donna

Without the title, this could be an average sunset picture just about anywhere in the Northwest U.S.A., there is nothing outstanding that sets it apart from hundreds of sunset photo's. Pat

I agree that it could be anywhere it the world...Great!

Why does everything have to be instantly recognizeable for what it is? If I knew that Pat would have a problem with it, I wouldn't have included the location information. The location provides a context for the image, but is not--in itself--what makes an image good or bad.
