Wanted: Jim Lord's PDF Files

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I down loaded the Word version of the Navy report from Jim Lord's site, but alas I can't view them on this computer. I went back to the site and the PDF files weren't there anymore. Why were they taken down, and did anyone get the PDF's before they went offline? I'd appreciate it if someone would e-mail me the file.

Thanks,

Forrest

I could never find the .PDF file.

I downloaded the pdf files and ended up with something unreadable (to me.) I think there may have been a problem with the formatting at Jim's webpage.

It is a bit odd that so often when there is something that looks like it is important, it disappears, or we have problems downloading it. The moral of the story is: grab it as soon as you see it. It may be gone in a few minutes.

Initially there were two links given for download: one for Word format, the other for PDF format. The two links were identical, both fetching the same .doc file. Normally such a file would be readable in WordPad, but this one was not. And my WordPerfect (8.0.0.153) was unable to do anything with this file at all, although it has never failed before in converting a Word document.

I finally just printed the html pages.

I know this isn't much help.

I printed the HTML pages, collected the word .doc and cut 'n pasted the data from each section into my wordprocessor.

Never did find the PDF file. E-mail Jim Lord about it.

Download the Microsoft Word 97 Viewer from www.microsoft.com. The format is Word 97. Enjoy
