What causes a vertical line on all my scans? It is not on the glass, I have cleaned it and I have reinstalled the software.

Take the top off and clean the mirror or optics, there's probably a big dust particle or something in there. I had the same problem.

Gwen:Yes, a line across all your scans usually indicates a dust particle located on the glass. If you are using an HP PhotoSmart, this is a very common problem. Use the air bulb to blow air over the scanner optics to correct the problem.
