Anyone got .mil access? Please try to get into this site

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

After all the Jim Lord hullabaloo, I did a lot of netsearching and dragging through dry navy newsletters about one y2k related subject after another. Finally, on HotBot, a search for

+u.s. +navy +master +utility +list

came up with an intriguing hit. Here's the url

http://www.nfesc.navy.mil/y2k/

But, I can't get in. The message says that my ISP does not have access. Can anyone get into this document? It may be the verification we are all looking for.

My email is real if you remove the antispam X

Also try this site. Their interest in the status of shore-side utilities is clearly evident:

The pages in question are routine.

Momma: How does the "X" work for anti-spam?

LOL! Great! Thanks for the break.

There are freely available software "worm" programs that will scan bbs pages and extract all email addresses of the form "name@host.domain" to build a spam mailing list. Including an extraneous character in your email addy defeats the automatic spamming software (or at least the ones not intelligent enough to remove all occurrences of an X).

The page you asked about is Navy Facilities Y2K assessment and remediation guidelines links. Nothing special. I'm very surprised that it would be blocked to anyone. I have found the Navy Y2K sites most helpful.
