INCREDIBLE ... Absolutely awesome.

As he says himself, Gary North is now a polyanna.

What more do people need to understand what's about to happen???

-- lou (lanny1@ix.netcom.com), August 19, 1999.

They need it to happen! Then it will be the race to see who gets in line first. But people don't care, Burger King will allways be there.

Thanks Ray Guess I should have had that coffee before posting.

Hate to come across as a polly ... but even Scary Gary notes that we should really view this in the "rumor department" until established otherwise. But, let me tell you, Jim Lord has an excellent rep for being a straight shooter, and I would not be at all surprised if its legit.

Has anyone found a way to download this in .pdf format? He gives two download links, one labeled "Word format", the other "PDF format", but both of them fetch an MS Word *.doc file. Opening it in WordPad results in a page or so of rubbish followed by the entire text, unformatted, in one long paragraph. (I have WordPerfect, but for some reason it can't convert this particular *.doc file.)

The site gives no e-mail address for feedback.

Just for the record, has anyone confirmed that this website is actually Jim Lord's?

-- Tom Carey (tomcarey@mindspring.com), August 19, 1999.

Tom,

I had the same thoughts. However, it this is a hoax and someone is using Mr. Lords bio, etc. then they went to a lot of effort to build this web site.

And, regarding Mr. Lord, the guy is top notch and he's always been very, very balanced and careful when he chooses his words. There is still that feeling of carefulness in his words here, but he's obviously been moved by these documents. I think he's very interested, as indicated by this site, in getting a protest movement together.

Could this be that catalyst that forces real disclosure? I don't know.

Can someone answer this regarding the cities listed. Does this list only indicate areas where Naval facilities are located? That is the way I read it. So, if Seal Beach is listed as being one of the worst then I guess that means that areas around it are also in danger.

Seal Beach is right around the corner from me and there is a military facility there, I believe. I did not, however, see San Diego... I wonder if this was just a sampling?

forgot this...

One thing that bothers me about this site is all the words with hyphons in them. It looks as if this copy was typed in one program where hard returns were placed for formatting and then flowed into the web software.

This might suggest that this was done in a hurry and no proofing took place yet or a lack of quality control and detail awareness. It raises concerns for me but I'll keep an open mind.

Tom -

I just downloaded the entire article in Word format and it came out fine. I have not been able to download in PDF format either. I have never taken the time to figure out why, but I probably have to purchase some software or other to get PDF. The download version has never worked for me.

Any suggestions anyone.

This follows, what I consider the most telling article I have ever seen on TV. It came via "Eye on America". The spin was just incredible. The head of ?Citicorp claimed that a run on the bank was completely covered by extra paper printed ($50 billion), it showed the '29 bank run, the elderly withdrawing cash and repeatedly warned of the danger of theft, and on and on. It was all just horrible to watch. The LIES!!!

and.......The snowball gets bigger every day!!

Mike, I wondered about the exclusion of San Diego as well. SD has a HUGE Navy presence. I've spent a lot of time there doing installs on ships and planes at the Navy and SOC bases. Could it mean SD is Y2K OK?

-- a (a@a.a), August 19, 1999.

a -

I commented on this on another thread. Neither LA, SF, nor SD are on the list, but Coronado, National City, and Fallbrook are list as "total" in some area. Interesting mix: rich retirees in Coronado, lots of blue-collar types in very urban National City, and almost rural Fallbrook (with all that leftover napalm).

Equal Opportunity Troubles.

Anyone got a .mil isp? I can't access this site:

http://www.nfesc.navy.mil/y2k/

It was the very most intriguing one resulting from a HotBot search for +navy +u.s. +master +utility +list

Could be the confirmation we're looking for. I get an error message saying my ISP is not allowed access.

-- mommacarestx (harringtondesignX@earthlink.net), August 19, 1999.

Also, Waco is on the list as partial failure expected in sewage treatment. Jives with the info I have gotten from other sources - the city is still waiting to hear from embedded chip vendors on their status.

But...we have no Navy here. We do have Army, Navy, Marine Corps recruiting offices. We do have an airport with the longest runway in the country at the TSTC airport. We do have the local National Guard. My guess is Waco counts because of the TSTC airport.

Time to do more research on composting toilets...

A very nicely formatted version of the paper has been posted at the Free Republic website.

On another thread I pointed out 3 anomalies I know of:

1) Watertown is for an ARMY base (Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain)

2) Seneca Falls is an anomaly unless some of the stuff there has Marine tags on it. (ASSUMING that my info on it's being closed is inaccurate)

3) They left out where they print their paychecks, but that ain't a base, just a Fed Building and another site here in Cleve.

Wasnt the operative word coastal cities?

Diane, I was just speaking about the New England locations when I said they were coastal (and I'm not sure about Plaineville, CT). I'm pretty sure that Reno, NV and Ogden, UT and others are probably inland. ;-)

"a" and Mike -

check out the 44 cities where "total failure is likely"

Coronado is the where the carriers usually are though wonder about the exclusion at the same time of NAS North Island where the planes are. Seal Beach is around there too I believe. See nothing anywhere about the nuclear traing center in Sand Pointe Idaho or the Marine Air training base at Yuma Az. (unless that was closed recently). Also El Centro Ca. where the Blue Angels train nor China Lake Ca. Seems the list is not total, although, it is sometimes hard to tell with all the base closings in the last few years.

I see Port of Seattle listed but not Naval Station Everett which is a carrier base although NAS Whidbey is listed which is the air station for the planes that fly off the carriers based at Everett.

All in all - velly interesting I would say.

I e-mailed Jim about the cities that weren't listed and this is his reply:

"The reason many cities are not included is I did not list the 300 or so cities that the Navy expects to NOT have problems. that information will be up on the website at JimLord.to eventually."

thanks

Jim

-- ExCop (yinadral@juno.com), August 19, 1999.

I'm also wondering about the significance of cities not listed. Are they OK or are they just not of interest to the Navy?

They list Seal Beach, Calif, but not Long Beach, Calif. Long Beach is in the Los Angeles metro area, as is Seal Beach. Is the base at Long Beach closed? It is hard for me to believe that the Los Angeles/Orange County, California, area is OK How about San Diego, Calif? Oakland/Alameda/San Francisco, Calif? Vallejo, Calif? Bremerton, Washington?

-- A (A@AisA.com), August 19, 1999.

Val, A, Mac & Mike: That explains it for SD:

Fallbrook: Camp Pendleton USMC base

National City: Naval Shipyard SD

Coronado: NAS Coronado

To those who are wondering about non-Navy listed cities: Jim's site describes the lists as including both Navy and Marine cities.

-- Ann M. (hismckids@aol.com), August 19, 1999.

As for Atlanta having no water, they are probobly right on there. The city of Atlanta has neglected updating water and sewerage plants in favor of social spending to the point where the state EPD has fined them in the millions. Strangely Clinton's EPA has maintained a hands off policy to the city despite gross pollution of the Chattahootchee river. This tottering old system, built in the 50's and 60's is just waiting to fail. I belive there is no way the City of Atlanta has spent the millions necessary to update water and sewerage. They are in for one hell of a mess as is anyone downstream.

Diane;

In response to your question, "Wasn't the operative word 'coastal cities', ummmmm, I don't remember seeing the Gulf when driving through Tulsa, Oklahoma a couple weeks ago, and Amarillo, Texas is in the middle of a desert!
