HP C30 and focus

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I recently purchased a HP C30 as an entry level digital camera. I am pleased with the first photoprints, except that distant objects are not sharp in focus, particularly objects with detail.

Since the camera has a fixed-focus lens, I have not engaged the autofocus feature for distance, but now I wonder if I should indeed use this when taking pictures with objects beyond 75+ feet?

The manual is not clear as to conditions/situations when the autofocus feature should be utilized.
