OT-Why was Energy Secy in Turkey During the Quake?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Forgive me---OT---but I just have to ask and you are such an intelligent group. I could swear that I heard Bill Richardson talking about how scared he was during the quake---if this is so---can someone tell me---why would Bill Richardson be in Turkey? Seriously, I think it was right in the city where it happened.

Obviously it was not an earthquake at all. It was a y2k failure that caused an explosion. Damn lying spin control media...

From the New York Times:

"U.S. Energy Secretary Bill Richardson, who was in Istanbul for talks on oil and gas pipeline projects, said he felt '45 seconds of very violent shaking' at 3 a.m.

'It's going to take Turkey a long time to recover,' Richardson said, calling the quake 'devastating.'"
