Nikon 950 or Olympus C2000?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I purchased a Nikon 950, then returned it for the Olympus C2000 as I didn't think the color was true enough for me. I need excellent color quality and sharpness. With a very busy schedule, I think I didn't give the Nikon enough test time, and am now thinking of going back to it.

The Olympus needed Windows 98 for ease of downloading photos--otherwise you had to hook up all the wiring to computer which I didn't complete. (The Nikon I had figured out in a day.) So, I've not seen any pictures from the Olympus--it all seems so much more work,, but some of the camera store staff said it was a better camera.

I really don't have any more time to research. The Nikon looked and felt great--the olympus in comparison was cheap looking, light, and not easy to use or figure out. But I'm concerned about which ccamera will give me the better pictures? Does anyone have any opinions or advice? Thank you.

As far as I can tell from the reviews and from comparing results from my Olympus C2000 and my Dad's Nikon, the image quality is virtually the same. When I want higher resolution, I still use 35mm film and send it in for processing onto a Kodak PhotoCD. PhotoCD's provide 3072x2048 images.

I haven't heard a bad word about the Nikon which I also own especially not about colour accuracy so I'm a little surprised by your results. One excellent feature is the ability to manually do white balance. If you want a thoroughly in depth review of both cameras, check out: http://www.photo.askey.net
