When do we breath easier

At what point can we begin to relax - after the turn of the millineum of course. Since some scenarios involve a series of increasingly de-stabilizing events, occuring globally, over several months or even a year or two, what would be considered a sign or signs that we have turned the corner?

Signs that we have turned the corner:

Your electricity is working. Your can have propane or heating fuel delivered and you can afford to pay for it. Your bank does not seemed concerned if you want to withdraw cash. Local stores will take your check. You can buy food at the store. Things are not on "backorder". Junk mail is coming to your house again. Stock brokers call you to solicite business. The Wall Street Journal no longer mentions y2k. You receive offers for new credit cards. You can find an affordable health insurance policy. McDonalds is selling hamburgers again and people are in line. Ready to burn firewood is sitting by the side of the road without worry of theft. It is hard to find a parking spot at the shopping mall. The drinking water tastes like chlorine again. The big three automakers are running factories. People are afraid of the IRS. Political discussions about gun control are back.

and many more...Thom

Your solar cells are still working. You found 2 new HAM operators to talk to today. The plagues seemed to have burned themselves out in the cities. You havn't seen a looter now in 2 weeks. Your radiation detector hasn't budged off of zero since that nuclear plant melted down. Your garden and your neighbors garden are doing well. You found a supply of diesel fuel that wasn't contaminated with water.

Thom & LM .... Great dream scenario ... Check out the reality of the world situation and read Gary North's links every day for a month. This will end the dreaming/wishing it doesn't happen ! Bet you don't even have a 100 lbs of flower put away. Sad . Eagle

How about, you notice that for the last 3-4 weeks you have not been starting every day with a sense of dread. You are starting to think about longer range plans again and so are most of your friends and neighbors. You begin to have faith that the "system" or infrastructure is becoming more and more dependable and will continue to work. You look forward to social gatherings as being a time to relax and enjoy sharing small talk once more. Your see smiles on peoples faces again and listen to dreams that seem possible to achieve. Also, the numerous details that Thom mentioned above are evident all around you. That's what I think is coming after the hard times. But I can't even guess how long the hard times will last. Could be quite a few years. It will take courage.

Hal, That was contributed in all seriousness,,,,Nah! But the point I was trying to make is that we won't know whether we have turned the corner until we know where the corner is. The question lacks some specificity, although I do know what the author is probably trying to get at.

And yes I have a lot more than 100 lbs of flour. I'm preparing for a 9 since I cannot concieve of a way to prepare for a 10.

You start putting food down the disposal again, instead of feeding it to the dog. You stop looking at every glass jar you empty and wondering if a canning lid will fit it.
