I would appreciate any information regarding a source for Carb-Othello pastel pencils. I have unsuccessful tried many, many art supply stores. They are nice for handtinting Polaroid transfers on watercolor paper.

Hello Jeffrey! Well, coincidentally, I have just got a complete set of carbothello pencils which I bought at http://dakotapastels.com/main.htm. I don't know where you are writing from (probably England). I am in Brazil myself, but I can't teel you about about the store's international shipping policy because a friend of mine took the pencils for me in the USA. I found your questions because I was looking for a pastel store in England. By the way, the technique which you described seems pretty interesting!
