As usual the devil is in the details. As long as the interviewer allowed him to avoid specifics and give the usual well rehearsed stock "answers", Koskinen's position sounded reasonable, Conclusion: Practically anyone interested in (but not necessarily knowledgeable about) the Y2k issue would feel that there's not much to worry about.

Once or twice the interviewer WAS able to pin Koskinen down, That's when the truth was revealed -- if only for an instant -- because the plausibility of Koskinen's arguments was shown to be ridiculous on its face. However, Koskinen is an expert at what he does so, overall, he won the PR battle as usual.
