There is a silver ring on the Nikon ais lens with the black dot to help line up for mounting the lens. Also there are colored hash marks nest to it. What are these colored hash marks for? I purchased this system used without manuals for the lens. Thanks.

Answers

Those coloured lines are for indicating the depth of field of the various f/stops. Each similar-colour pair of lines correspond to the depth of field range of the similarly colour-coded aperture value.
