Primorye Power Plants Build Up Fuel Reserves For Winter.

(a small snippet...)

The coming heating season
makes power plants in the Primorye Territory
think about winter fuel stockpiles and
equipment repairs. Mines and open-cuts of
the Primorskugol company again started
shipping coal to territorial power stations.

Power plants are in a hurry, since they procured only 26 percent of solid fuel necessary for winter. Open-cuts in Luchegorsk also boosted coal production -- up to 16,000 tonnes per day in an attempt to make up for time, lost due to a shortage of diesel...

We sometimes forget how good we have it in the westernized world. These folks deal with TEOTWAKI every day...

How true. I think one of the up sides of Y2K for me is not taking all our conveniences for granted so much anymore.

Rick,

I note that one of the problems that created the lower coal reserves was a shortage of diesel. Think *that* could happen here?
