depth of field in Olympus C-2000 Zoom Digital Camera

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

There is a comment about depth of field in http://www.quiknet.com/~frcn/definitions.html It says that: "I have not seen any evidence yet that proves thay any digital camera in the price range below $ 1500 can control depth of field from user input...." in Depth of field section. This sentence is not present now and removed if you look at the web site page. But I think the author says the true. I own Olympus C-2000 and I didn't see any difference choosing small aperture setting to get wide depth of field - even the picture is getting worse comparing with auto mode - that is the sharpness decreases in whole picture did someone try to get max depth of field using small aperture setting and get good quality pictures with Olympus C-2000

Does that mean the f/stop at f2 is not what it really is? I have compared the difference with my conventional camera and the oly and felt kinda cheated now.

I've yet to limit the depth of field by using the 'A' mode. Even in 'macro' it has too much depth of field. The 'film speed' setting doesn't seem to alter this either. There's a feeling that the 'S' and 'A' modes are not what's implied. There are an awful lot of possiblities. Maybe it only works in SHQ or without flash or when Venus is in conjunction with Mars.
