Penda....Great find For what it's worth i was involved in an interesting conversation with a computor security specialist while on a flight last week. I asked what was his take on the y2k problem. His comment was that it was very real. He also confirmed just what this article states. He said already he has been in some classified areas with out any identification. He couldn't beleive how lax securiy was. He had described some of the easiest ways into systems was to tell people on the network they need to test the system. Please give me your name and password so i can complete the test. and guess what. More often than you would think you get it

Talk about lack of security . . . I used to deliver balloons and do singing telegrams. You wouldn't believe the places I used to be able to get into without anyone ever checking to see who I was or whether I was actually doing a delivery. The security guy would have a big smile on his face when I would enter. I would tell him I was going to what-ever floor and he would motion me up. Sometimes I would just walk in and no one would say anything. Penda

I used to do moderately heavy duty computer security consulting, much in classified areas. We got in all too often...all too easily.

And yep, my take is that it's real, too.

Well it sure would make a handy excuse in case of libel wouldn't it?

It wasn't Y2k - it was those evil hackers!

Duh - not libel - liability.

Warning: Don't type this late at night. You too could write something dumb. :-)

Penda, Could you tell us more about the link? I tried it and get a "broken or expired link" message. Thanks.
