Toshiba PDR-M5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I read an article about the Toshiba PDR-M5, and really liked the specification that I saw. But have not heard anything about it since, I was wondering if anybody has heard anything new on this camera, when it will be available in the states, estimate price, where it will usally be avaible first when it gets to the states. And how does this camera compare to C2000, and 950coolpix, I visited Toshiba website, but only thing I found on this camera is that it will be available in August, it is now August and I can't find anything in it.

I think people keep getting the Toshiba pdr-5 mixed up with the PDR-M5 which hasn't been released yet from what I can see.. Although, I'll check to see to be sure. I am also interested in the PDR-M5 and agree that it's hard to find any specs or mention of it lately.

Micro Warehouse, warehouse.com, 1 800 367-6808, [No, I don't own stock... :-)], has the PDR-M5 in their latest catalog on page 103, Cat #: IN8087. It's going for 799.95 through the catalog.

Whether or not they have them yet, is anyone's guess, but a quick trip to the website should tell you quickly enough.

Good Luck. Let the rest of us know what it's like if you buy one. I have a PDR-M1, that I bought based on price and image size/quality and manual features, I'd like to know if the newer models are continuing a tradition of excellant equipment for the money.

I am employed by Toshiba and work in the Imaging Systems Division. The product release date for the PDRM5 has been pushed back to October 1st because of minor production problems. We should see our first preproduction samples after Labor Day. Check our web site at the end of September for updates on the release of the camera. Thank you for your interest in our products.
