Preparedness Expositions? : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

Several organizations are sponsoring y2k preparedness expositions around the country, as a commercial venture. Have any of you been to such an expo, and did you find it helpful? Would you recommend going to them?

I found the following list of forthcoming expos at in response to a request from a friend about the one in Charlotte, and thought I'd post it here in case anyone else found it useful.

CHARLOTTE, NC- Charlotte Merchandise Mart, Sept. 17, 18 and 19, 1999

NASHVILLE, TN- I-24 Expo Center, Smyrna, Sept. 24, 25 and 26, 1999

DENVER, CO- Denver Merchandise Mart, Nov. 5, 6 and 7, 1999

In November of last year,I attended such an expo in Seattle, WA. There were some guest speakers and workshops, but the exhibit hall was filled with vendors that displayed and sold every preparedness product on the market. This included storage food, generators, solor systems, precious metals, etc. Each booth was staffed with knowledgeable folks that could answer questions and give valuble input. If you are in the initial stages of preparedness, go to one of these events. If your efforts are somewhat mature you will find the expo to be redundant.

I attended an expo in Tampa in June. I had been preparing for some time, but still found some useful info. One of the big advantages IMHO, was that prep foods could be purchased at a show discount (usually around 10%) and there were no shipping charges.

I attended the prep expo in Philly this past June. As mentioned above, if you are a long way from finishing your preps, an expo would be good to check out. You'll find water filters, dehydrated foods, bugout bag odds & ends, Baygen radios/lanterns, books, blow guns, sprouting supplies, cookstoves, militia groups, etc.

Do your homework before you go. Price out items you are interested in purchasing prior to attending the show. Remember, the vendors are there to SELL, SELL, SELL!

If you are into NWO conspiracies then you should definitely attend an expo just to hear the lecturers. Not my cup of tea. I'd rather listen to Art Bell's show personally. ;)

Best Wishes,
