Data stored with JPEG file on C2000Z digital camera

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am looking for a specification of how extra data such as shutter speed, exposure and other relevant information is stored on the JPEG files taken from the Olympus C2000Z (or other) camera. There is a utility called PIE (Picture Informatin Extractor) which takes advantage of it, and I would like to know whether the file format is open to the public somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to Yahoo.com and type "EXIF" you'll get a load of stuff that will get you where you're going directly and indirectly. Unfortunately, you need to read Japanese to make sense of much of it. If you're not Japanese, try these two links:

Lots of luck, Brad http://rectaltronics.com

PS: See an example of what I've been working on: http://rectaltronics.com/img.asp?image=nostril.jpg&ex=yes
