I would like to buy a digital camera to photograph small collectable items to post on ebay. I don't know much about photography or computers. How much resolution do I really need? Which software is user-friendly?...

The image quality requirements for ebay are REALLY low. 640 X 480 is plenty. Then you can blur the image more in photoshop to hide defects in your product. That's what I see done a lot. :)
