I need a job but I think I will pass.

Is this common for FEMA?

There was a thread a LONG ways back, where Yourdynamites were posting FEMA help-wanted ads they were seeing in the classifieds.

Don't know the categorization of threads, and we can't get that far back into the archives.

In @ 2 weeks we'll have more RAM, so maybe that will help root around deep in the past ;^) Somebody else may be able to call that very interesting thread up for you. As we recall, the pay range did not match the corresponding stress level. But if you want a waiting number for a niche in those caves ...

Thanks for the chuckle....my husband and I laughed until we had tears in our eyes.

I remember that thread A & L. Seems like it was active around last Thanksgiving or earlier. FEMA installation in our area was hiring then & is still hiring as of this week.

The jobs are "on call" positions for next to nothing pay-wise. Think I'll pass. :)

Best Wishes,

Bingo 1,

Hold on there a minute! The jobs may be "on call" for right now, but I'll bet you get a special hat, jacket, and arm band to hold onto. (Maybe even a bullet proof vest, for later on) Then, starting Sept 1, when the DoD puts all its bases on alert, you can get ready to go. Soon as they activate you, then you can start *officially* going around and sizing up the places that you will want to confiscate from later on. The real pay is not in the direct salary, but rather in the "tips." What could be better for a bureaucrat or storm-trooper wannabe? ;-(

Maybe we need to inflitrate FEMA with one of our posters to get the inside scoop on government plans. Kind of like the establishment shills that are suppose to be lurking here. hehehehehehehehehehe.

(I am assuming shill means spy, I saw it on another thread)

I'd gladly work with them, but I don't know how to goosestep....

HELP WANTED. President Clinton is looking for a talented mid-career military professional who would be willing to take on the challenge of being program examiner for command, control, communications, computers and intelligence programs throughout the Defense Department and intelligence communities. While the perfect candidate would be somebody who is familiar with DOD and intelligence IT issues and is skilled in financial and economic analysis, we would recommend a lifetime subscription to Federal Computer Week to help you navigate through the maze of three-letter acronyms.

If FCW is not enough to keep you ahead of the curve, try mailing this Chinese proverb to the program offices of DOD's most problematic IT endeavors: "Of all the stratagems, to know when to quit is the best." Those of you with a taste for adventure can call (202) 606-2700 to request application forms.
