I have examined both Olympus D340L & D340R cameras, and find no visible or physical difference. What exactly is the difference? The price is the same, at three differentsales locations

Ther is no big difference. The D-340R is an evolution of the D-340L with a better complementary color filter, a shorter treatment time for the picture and a new save mode without compression SHQ : no loss of information but bigger files. Also, the 2.0" LCD screen of the 340L has been reduced to 1.8" to reduced the necessary energy (and the results seems good). It is now possible to digitally zoom 3X on the LCD image in play-back mode. The "golden" buttons of the 340L are now "silvered" buttons on the 340-R, what gives it a "more professional look". All this information is extracted from a test on www.megapixel.net, I have read it in the french version but an english one exists on the site.
