Excerpt:

Four small brokerage firms have been slapped with fines of $20,000 or $50,000 for allegedly failing to meet deadlines for fully disclosing their computer systems' readiness for the Year 2000. ....

The judge's action came a week after the SEC said it would go to court starting Dec. 1 to shut down brokerage firms that aren't ready for the date change.

The Dec. 1st date for the SEC to start shutting down brokerage firms that aren't compliant is interesting...do you know where your money is?

Four small brokerage firms is hardly worth getting into a tizzy over. Or am I just being painfully realistic again? I know how that rubs some of you the wrong way.

As stated before the Dec. 1st date for shutdown of any who are not compliant is the rub... at least for those unsuspecting citizens who happen to have money resting in the hands of those establishments.

One small thought that you might take to heart. A comment does not constitute a tizzy.

Check out the SEC Edgar Database to look at your brokerage firm and how it answered the SEC's request. www.sec.gov
