Looking for camera for indoor sport photos

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am considering buying my first digital camera to use for taking pictures of my kids participating in high school sports (mostly indoors, but some outdoors). What cameras would you recommend that produce good quality (when printed not just displayed on a monitor) pictures for this type of use?

I take A LOT of indoor sports photos at wrestling tournaments and have had the best results with the Canon Pro-70. Outstanding low- light capability and reasonably fast cycle time. I always use highest resolution for the best shots.

Available at buy.com for less than $950.

Other alternative would be the $13,000 Kodak DCS520, or the Nikon D1 for $5600 (plus cost of lenses) if you can wait until October.
