Can anyone help me differentiate the newest version of this lens from its predecessor? Thanks in advance. Rick

The new 55 is the third version of this lens and is differentiated from the second version by having the lettering on the outside of the front lip. The second version has it on the inside. The second version design is based on German desgns with thick central elements while the newest version is totally different, using thin elements only. The second version is a similar design to the 45mm, both of which are sharp. The newest version 55 is reportedly sharper than the second. SR
